Judy McHenry... has been singing for as long as she can remember. Born and raised in Philadelphia and it's suburbs, Judy eagerly participated in summer stock, local theater and folk groups as creative outlets. Surrounded by music as a child, inspired by her father's love of folk songs and having a life-long interest in her Irish heritage and culture, she moved away from theater and towards Irish song. Thinking about her musical influences (other than Dad) such as Eva Cassidy, Mary Black and many American folk singers, Judy began to join local Irish bands for a song or two while delving even deeper into the roots of the music. Then the idea of "McHenry and....Somebody" began to form. Enter Gerry Clark.
Gerry Clark... rocketed from the Planet Krypton to Earth as a small child. Gerry received amazing powers from exposure to the yellow sun, including: the ability to woo women, eat bagels, and to drink for hours on someone else’s tab. He became enamored of Irish music as he slowly got too old to start bar fights. He sat and listened instead.
Musical influences include the Clancy Brothers, the Kingston Trio, the 4 Seasons, the Grumble Brothers, and Smokescreen. Sartorial influences include Homer Simpson, Ray Joyce, and Frankenstein’s creature. A founding member of Causeway, he has also played with the Bogside Rogues, the Theresa Flanagan Band, Kathleen Breen, and numerous other acts. During the daytime, he is a renegade cop who plays by his own rules. Or a taxidermist. Or something.
(personal from Judy: we will be interviewing for a new taxidermist on Thursday. Or guitarist. Or shrink. Or something)
